The U.S. Department of Energy sponsored a science bowl for all middle and high schools across the nation. This is the first year LISA has competed in this bowl, and they deserve our applause and support for their victory of the regional competition of Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Science Quiz Bowl team competed in the National competition last weekend. Much was learned about Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car reporting, and various themes of Science. Students attending Nationals were Dana Abulez, Manasa Veluvolu, Zaheer Siddiqui, Rachana Kombathula and Jeong-Min Wui. They competed fearlessly until the end especially with the Hydrogen Fuel Call Car. The car was changed every round, and the student's car became faster and faster. This year's team did not place in the top 5, but they gained more knowledge in all areas of science and engineering. As the teacher and coach of the this team, I am most proud of their accomplishments this year, and it was a joy to travel to and tour Washington D.C and to experience with them the rigor of competition. I encourage them and each student to participate more in academic competitions. Congratulations LISA!
