Syllabus
This course focuses on developing the key concepts of biology clearly and accurately with in a context of unifying themes. Students gradually and incrementally expand their understanding of the fundamental structure and properties of living things, opening their minds, creating new ways to realize the mystery of life.
TOPICS OF STUDY
4 spiral notebooks for each topic of study
Plenty of pens (black or blue ink) and pencils
Mini stapler
Goggles or safety glasses
Glue
Graph paper
Scissors
Magic markers and colored pencils
Hole puncher
Highlighter
One box of disposable gloves
Teaching techniques include lecture, lab, dissections, worksheets, group assignments, home assignments, research and reports, and DVD’s. Quizzes and exams will be utilized in efforts to provide understanding of the topics. Tests will be given regularly, online and by paper. Exams will be computerized, but will mimic the testing atmosphere of the classroom. ALL STUDENTS are required to participate in class by doing the assigned work during the allotted time. You will be responsible for the materials that you receive in lecture and the corresponding textbook information. Advanced notice will be given for tests. Quizzes may or may not be scheduled.
